Who needs kids, I have a dog!
Captive Irish Moon by Sandi Layne (aka sandyquill ) is sitting on my side table waiting for me to pick it up and continue reading. I read a few pages earlier, but had to put it down when the dog, Miah , wanted to go outside and go potty. Understand, our yard is totally fenced, she has a doggy door and is able to go in and out by herself, but for some reason she recently decided she can't "go" without me there. No one else will do, it has to be me. So, rain or shine, I stand in the front yard and wait until she sniffs out the right spot, does what she needs to, then runs in through her doggy door leaving me standing in the yard alone. When I get inside the house she is waiting for her treat for being such a good girl. Where's my treat, I want to know, but she looks at me as if to say, "You didn't go potty!"

Sometimes, when I'm standing vigil over my little white diva, the neighbor across the street brings her dog, Lucky, out on his leash for a walk. One look and both dogs start a conversation that has all the dogs within a square mile talking at once. Neighbor Lady and I sometimes try to talk over all the noise, but we soon give up because we can't compete with all that dog speak. Eventually nature gets the best of one or both dogs, they do what they came out to do, we all go inside and peace once again reigns in the neighborhood.

Now that the weather has begun to cool off somewhat in the evening I can go out to the back yard and read or take my MacBook Pro and surf the web over my wireless network while doggy diva digs a hole big enough to plant a tree in. When she has sufficiently sniffed and rolled in whatever she happens to pull out of the hole she gets a running start and does a flying leap into my lap on top of whatever happens to be there. Before I can react she's down and across the yard laughing at me from by the fence while I dust off the sand and clean up whatever mess she made and get settled again. Then she gets a running start....
