Smile, it's painless!

On The View today a teenager was asked what grade she was in and she answered, "I'm a senior." She was then asked what college she was going to next year and she replied, "Oh, I have one more year of high school, I'm a senior now."

So, when does a child start the next grade? Is it when a grade is finished in the spring or when school starts in the fall? There may be no right or wrong answer to this question, but I would like your opinion. I'll keep track and post the results of this informal poll later.

My answer is a new grade is started when school starts in the fall. Now, let the debate begin!
